Meet The Team

We are a young association and our team is small. If things go well we will grow, with your help, and maybe your name will be on this page in the future, who knows?

See the last section below for some ideas on how you could get involved – as we say in English, the more the merrier!

President ~ Virginie Poulard

[symple_spacing size=”10″]

Virginie_family_360Virginie originates from Nice in the south east of France and has lived in the Paris region for 15 years. She’s the mother of two children at school in Saint-Germain-lès-Arpajon who enter CE1 and CM1 in September 2016.

She has always been passionate about foreign languages and holds a diploma in Translation and Terminology. Although English and Spanish are her main foreign languages, she has also studied Portuguese, Italian and Dutch.

Virginie is convinced that a good knowledge of English is an important factor in today’s competitive working environment. She has therefore decided to contribute her efforts to the Rainbow English School association in order to help as many people as possible develop their abilities in this essential skill.

As a professional translator, one of her main roles in the association is to make sure that the French version of our web site, as well as our various documents and publications, are written in correct French.

Treasurer ~ Karyn Carmona

[symple_spacing size=”10″]

team_karyn_SHKaryn was born in Santiago in Chile and moved to Barcelona in Spain when she was nine. This has given her a good understanding of the differences between South American and Iberian Spanish, as well as Catalan, the regional language of north eastern Spain and parts of southern France.

She moved to Paris in 1994 where she obtained a certificate in French language and civilisation from the Sorbonne. This was followed by a masters in Social Science and Economics from the Catholic University of Paris.

Since then she has worked both as an executive assistant and as a board member (president, treasurer…) of various artistic and training-based associations.

Karyn is an active member of the Saint-Germain-lès-Arpajon community, where her son goes to school, taking part in various cultural and educational activities.

Her wish is for her son to become fully trilingual in French, English and Spanish, as she recognises the importance of language skills in today’s globalised society. She is also in the process of learning English herself, which is one language which has so far escaped her.

Director / Head Teacher ~ Sab Will

[symple_spacing size=”10″]

Our Director of Studies and head teacher was born in Edinburgh, but grew up in the north of London. Sab has been teaching English in France for over 20 years.

team_sab_SHIn this time he has worked with countless adults in the private sector, taught children and teenagers at the prestigious British Council in Paris, been Director of Studies in a Paris language school, been Course Director on a certified teacher training programme and set up a private language school in Greece.

Sab has also written a book for teaching English through popular songs for Cambridge University Press, edited the French professional teaching association (TESOL) newsletter, been a Cambridge Examiner for both adults and children, and set up several original English teaching web sites and communities (including this one).

He holds the University of Cambridge CELTA and DELTA English teaching qualifications.

Now living in Saint-Germain-lès-Arpajon, 30 km south of Paris, Sab is actively putting his innovative ideas into practice through the Rainbow English School association. His desire is to help motivated young (and not-so-young) learners to advance more quickly towards proficiency in this valuable competence.

Sab is also actively developing training programmes for French teachers of English and other subjects. These exciting sessions will introduce powerful visual and interactive methods for helping students to learn more effectively.

team_sab2_SHOn the professional side, Sab runs creativity workshops for individuals and innovation training for organisations. In both of these activities, he helps people to develop their full potential and teams to imagine original solutions to their problems and challenges.

Additionally, as a committed life-long learner himself, Sab will be training from October 2016 to January 2017 to become a qualified Practitioner of Positive Psychopedagogy. This discipline aims to better understand the learning process in order for each learner to obtain the greatest satisfaction and success possible.

Finally, Sab uses his passion for music, photography, abstract art, poetry and nature to make his teaching as stimulating and personalised as possible.

His 6-year-old son goes to school in Saint-Germain-lès-Arpajon and is in CE1 (and Rainbow Class!) this year.

And You?

[symple_spacing size=”10″]

We are always interested in hearing from people who share our values and would like to get involved.

If you are a parent with a little time to spare to help us with logistics that would be great.

If you are a qualified and experienced teacher and would like to start a Rainbow English School in your town, let’s talk.

If you share our passion and appreciate our values and would like to help us spread them to the wider teaching community, we’re listening!
